RW2626-513 Overview
Style 4 Weissenborn Guitar – Tasmanian Blackwood · Master Grade Tasmanian Blackwood
This is a particularly special instrument, and one I've been looking forward to completing since first laying eyes on this incredible Tasmanian Blackwood about a year ago.
The master-grade Tasmanian Blackwood used for No. 513 is, without question, the most highly figured timber I've worked with this year, and my first master grade guitar since 2024. What makes this particular set so remarkable is the pronounced band of curl running across the soundboard between the soundhole and bridge. It immediately draws the eye, and the same dramatic figure is repeated in the bookmatched back. The combination of rich colour, depth and contrasting figure makes this an especially beautiful example of Tasmanian Blackwood.
As the second and final Style 4 of 2026, I've fitted No. 513 with titanium-plated, high-ratio Waverly tuning machines. Beyond their exceptional engineering and precision with an incredible 20:1 ratio, the titanium plating offers outstanding resistance to tarnishing and wear, making them a fitting choice for an instrument intended to be enjoyed and passed down through generations.
An exceptionally beautiful guitar, even by the standards of the highly figured Blackwood I regularly work with.
